Abstract

Apartheid is a practice where one racial group tries to supress purposely the other racial group on all fronts be it politically, economically or socially in order to prove its dominance and alienation of the other group. The concept emerged in South Africa, where local South African population was facing discrimination by the British. This practice in the present day context is being practiced by the Government of Israel that discriminates its own Palestinian Muslim Arab citizens especially those living in the territories under Israel’s control since 1967. The Arab citizens targeted through Apartheid are denied basic civil, political and social rights. The practice of Apartheid falls under Crimes against Humanity of Rome Statute, which is the governing body of International Criminal Court and is also criticised under different Internationally recognised Conventions and Bodies. The Apartheid Convention which was designed for putting an end to the concept of Apartheid has many provisions which are clearly being violated through various activities of Government of Israel against its Arab citizens.
