Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is also changing human resource management (HRM) as it allows organisations to automate their processes, examine workforce data and offer employees targeted support. This essay focuses on AI-enhanced HR practices and how they change the concepts of employee engagement, productivity and retention. It follows a qualitative research design of secondary research, where academic literature on the topic of the use of AI, human-AI cooperation, technology-related HRM, employee training and organisational performance are examined. The results suggest that AI can enhance employee engagement with personalised communication, quicker HR services, sentiment analysis and customised learning opportunities. Performance management augmented by AI has the potential to improve productivity through offering feedback regularly, detecting skills gaps and facilitating evidence-based decision-making. Predictive analytics can also help in retaining employees by ensuring that organisations detect potential turnover factors and respond promptly by meeting the concerns of their employees. Nevertheless, the analysis has also indicated challenges related to the implementation of AI, such as privacy, algorithm bias, surveillance of employees, decreased human engagement, and hinder transparency as well. This research thus posits that AI must complement as opposed to substituting human judgement in HRM. Responsible data governance, transparency, employee involvement and human oversight are the key elements to develop the effective implementation. In general, AI-enhanced HR practices can lead to better employee performance, although they should rely on the balanced approach that is ethical and human-oriented and combines tech possibilities with organisational and employee demands.
